Case description
The October/November 1978 UFO Investigator identifies the witness as Daniel Leonard, a thirty-three-year-old boring-mill operator. Around 12:15 a.m. on December 2, 1977, he was travelling along M-97 in Roseville, Michigan. After stopping his truck, getting out, and walking toward a building, he noticed five objects hovering in the sky. He estimated their distance at no more than 150 yards.
Leonard described sharply outlined gray-white forms with domes or translucent upper sections. He thought he could see two beings inside each. Three additional objects joined the original five; all eight then rose slowly toward the northwest and disappeared. He reported no sound. The entire observation lasted about two minutes. His estimated physical dimensions were forty to fifty feet across and eight to ten feet deep.
Regional investigator Jack Thompson supplied the account to NICAP as part of a collection of Detroit-area reports. The short published summary gives no occupant anatomy, conversation, landing, or physical evidence. Its 12:15 time differs slightly from the imported 12:20 entry. The plate uses indistinct paired silhouettes rather than invented alien features, and portrays the eight objects after the additional three had joined.
