Case description
David Webb's MUFON UFO Journal 143 investigation separates two April 9, 1978 observations at the Gould property in South Middleton, Massachusetts. That morning, fourteen-year-old Doug Gould and his cousin D.P. were riding a minibike near a ruined pig house when they glimpsed two hairless, normally sized white heads above low brush, thirty to thirty-five feet away. They described light-grey faces and dark-blue wraparound eyes, then left.
Around 2 p.m., Doug returned with his brother Allan, 21, and cousins R.P. and D.P. R.P. saw a figure in profile only ten to fifteen feet away, approximately her own five-foot-three height. Its head projected unusually far backward inside an apparently transparent round helmet. She recalled a large dark oval eye and nose slit, but no mouth or ears. Flared sleeves and trouser legs hid hands and feet; a patterned belt had a black buckle.
R.P. yelled and moved after it; the figure retreated into brush. The other witnesses supplied much vaguer glimpses, while Allan noticed a sulphurous smell. No craft was described in these April scenes. Earlier January UFO and white-suited-figure reports belong to the wider family case, not this simultaneous observation. Webb considered the family sincere, while noting the disparity between R.P.'s detailed view and the others' limited observations. No independently authenticated image or recovered equipment was presented.
