Case description
Two young girls were reportedly putting horses away after riding at Oulton Marshes, near Lowestoft, on May 14, 1978, when they saw a large silvery object close to the ground among trees. The published summary gives about 8 p.m. The object had a domed shape and a surrounding band of orange lights that changed through pink to a brilliant white.
It allegedly rose, descended again and dimmed. The girls then noticed four figures coming toward them: two approximately seven feet tall and two shorter. They described pale faces, short black hair and small eyes, with orange robes and a silver strip at the neckline. A whitish haze surrounded the figures, which moved in a jerky, zigzagging manner. Hands, feet and ears were not seen. Horses reportedly became agitated, dogs howled and cats ran about during the episode.
The account is traced in later catalogues to UFO Quest International, volume one, June–July 1979, rather than a publicly available original witness interview. The surviving summary does not explain the encounter’s conclusion or demonstrate that the figures emerged from the object. Its sequence also matters visually: the bright object phase preceded the approaching figures. Absence of visible hands or feet should not be promoted into a confirmed anatomical feature.
