Case description
On the cloudy evening of May 15, 1978, nineteen-year-old Ignacio Sanchez Munoz was walking along a road after finishing work at a nearby restaurant. Early English-language summaries spell the location Caujimolpa or Cuajimolpa, generally interpreted as Cuajimalpa de Morelos on the western edge of Mexico City. A later account also associates the route with Obregón in Sonora; the exact route remains unclear.
As Sanchez Munoz walked, he noticed a geometric object hovering nearby. It was described as a cube with multicolored luminosity, accompanied by a buzzing sound and a yellow beam. No visible occupant was described. Instead, he said he began receiving thoughts or a voice directly in his mind. The perceived communicator told him that the cube itself was empty but that humanlike beings would soon come to Earth. He understood the exchange as a conversation lasting about an hour. Near its conclusion, the voice indicated that it would return to speak with him again.
Larry Hatch's summary describes a primary cube approximately four meters across emitting beams and releasing a separate cube about one meter across. Other summaries describe a single cube or two objects of different estimated sizes. These are differing descriptions in the published accounts.
The source trail begins with a short notice attributed to Allan Hendry in International UFO Reporter in July 1978, followed by HUMCAT, NICAP, UFO*DB and later catalogues. No subsequent meeting is described in those accounts.
