A family traveling near Stanford in the Vale, Oxfordshire, reported an unusual light while driving home in June 1978. The catalogue dates the incident to June 19 at approximately 10:10 p.m. Later retellings identify the travelers as members of the Mann family. They described an object pacing their car, resolving into a circular craft with lights, and descending near trees. After continuing the journey, the family reportedly found that arrival at home was later than expected, leading to an account of approximately an hour of missing time.
