Case description
Retired mason Angelo D'Ambros, 61, said he was gathering wood near Gastagh, outside Gallio, late on the morning of November 24, 1978. Two thin yellow beings reportedly floated about forty centimetres above the ground. He described bald pear-shaped heads, enormous pointed ears, deep-set whitish eyes without obvious eyelids, long noses, tusklike teeth at the ends of wide mouths, and oversized hands and feet. They wore dark close-fitting garments.
One figure allegedly tried to take his billhook. D'Ambros resisted, felt a shock, and raised a branch, whereupon the beings retreated. Following them to a clearing, he said he saw a roughly four-metre craft with a red upper section, blue lower section, white band and aluminium landing legs. The figures entered through an upper hatch and the object departed.
His son-in-law Luciano Munari inspected the site afterward, describing darkened, flattened vegetation and two U-shaped impressions; he was not a second witness to the beings. Antonio Chiumiento investigated later and published the account in Flying Saucer Review. Charles Lear's source-based reconstruction notes delayed photographs and that the proposed laboratory examination of marks on the tool was not performed. The plate combines successive encounter phases while preserving the unusual reported anatomy.
