Mirabello, ITL being encounter — January 3, 1979

At about 11:15 p.m. on 3 January 1979, a couple near Mirabello in Ferrara province reportedly noticed a red light on the ground while crossing a road. They entered their car and approached to obtain a closer view. The ITACAT-derived expanded account describes a strong burning smell and a pulsating red vertical bar surrounded by a circular halo, rather than a clearly defined metallic vehicle. As the witnesses drew nearer, a humanlike figure walked in front of the light. Shortly afterward a second figure crossed from the opposite direction. Neither figure receives a detailed anatomical description. The couple left because of intense cold. While driving away they saw a similar, larger light on the ground in front of a nearby orchard. This light also pulsed slowly, but the cold again prevented them from remaining to watch. The account reaches later compilations through Verga’s ITACAT. Imported metadata gives 11:20 p.m. and mentions children; the expanded narrative gives 11:15 and describes only the couple. These versions remain unreconciled. A manufactured saucer, detailed alien anatomy or abduction would exceed the description. The plate retains the two figures, red bar and halo.
