Case description
A Sheffield woman and a male neighbor reportedly saw a low object above shops in Gleadless Townend during spring 1979. The Atlas and Randles-derived summaries place it in March and describe daylight. INTCAT, citing David Clarke’s investigation, instead gives a night with scattered cloud, a woman aged thirty-eight rather than thirty-two, and only a spring date. These versions should not be silently blended into an exact timestamp.
The woman had gone out to use a public telephone and was chatting to the neighbor. They described a dull grey disc or inverted saucer, about ten meters across, with a turretlike upper section and a red light beneath. Through a large window they allegedly saw two humanlike figures with long blond hair and ice-blue one-piece suits. One stood with his hands behind his back, while the other seemed to look toward the pair. Some versions mention machinery inside, without identifying it.
The area seemed unusually silent, with traffic becoming noticeable again after the object abruptly disappeared. Later reports of apparitions or other unusual experiences were attributed to the woman, but do not independently establish the object’s nature or a causal connection. Jenny Randles and David Clarke form the main publication trail. No original photograph, physical trace examination or detailed second-witness statement was verified here. The plate uses a spring title and preserves the reported humanlike appearance.
