Pampulha, Brz being encounter — May 5, 1979

Two police officers reportedly observed a brief landing in a field at Pampulha, in the Belo Horizonte area of Minas Gerais, Brazil, on the night of May 5, 1979. The available account gives a duration of approximately ninety seconds. They described an object with portholes and figures looking outward through them. The ground was said to be brightly illuminated, and their vehicle reportedly experienced an interruption. After the brief stop, the object was described as rising vertically and departing rapidly. The bibliography leads to UFO Newsclipping Service material and the November 1979 MUFON UFO Journal, citing a newspaper report. The account does not establish that the figures left the object or approached the officers, and no onboard sequence is supplied. The illustration therefore keeps the occupants as indistinct silhouettes behind windows. The vehicle, field, exact porthole arrangement, and lighting are reconstructed. The catalogue's electromagnetic label describes the proposed explanation of the car trouble, rather than a measured cause.
