During late June 1979, children at a holiday camp in the Turgay region of Kazakhstan reportedly encountered several unusually tall dark figures. The children's estimates placed their height above three metres, while a teacher who also reported seeing one gave a lower estimate of roughly two and a half metres.
The accounts describe between five and eight figures and say that they pursued the campers. The teacher described hands with three fingers and no thumb. Marks were reportedly found on the ground, but catalogues differ in the units and scale assigned to them; the measurements should not be treated as settled physical evidence.
Jacques Vallée's UFO Chronicles of the Soviet Union places the report alongside a separate military observation of an unidentified object in the area. That does not establish a directly witnessed link between the object and the figures. No taking or confinement is described. The plate shows a contextual camp-and-treeline scene with an adult and children safely together, rather than depicting violence or inventing a craft-and-occupant sequence.

The final Kazakhstan section includes the late June 1979 Turgay/Derzhavinsk campers’ figure report. It also recounts a separate shepherd/crash story and presents a possible connection as a claim; that connection is not established by this record. This campsite report is separate from the preceding shepherd/crash story and later Tien Shan narrative. Their proposed connection is a narrator/researcher claim, not a directly witnessed craft–figure sequence. Height/count/mark measurements remain disputed; military interest does not establish the cause.
