Case description
A November 1979 report from the hills east of Santiago concerns two middle-aged hikers, identified in fuller Chilean retellings as an architect and a judge whose names were withheld. While climbing Cerro Punta de Damas shortly after midday on a weekend, they reportedly reached a plateau and noticed a round object on an adjacent flat area. Its surface was described as beige with a pinkish cast, with bright lights of different colors.
Beside or leaning against the disc stood a hair-covered, roughly humanlike figure whose head appeared joined to the body without a visible neck. The hikers could not determine whether the covering was natural hair or a fur suit. They started down the small intervening valley to approach, calling out as the figure appeared to board. Before they reached the neighboring plateau, a brilliant light accompanied the object's rapid ascent and disappearance.
Liliana Núñez Orellana's historical survey traces the episode to La Segunda of 17 November 1979. The judge was quoted as uncertain about what they had seen and stressed that both men were tired from climbing. Those reservations belong in the account alongside the striking description. The catalogue's small-humanoid shorthand omits the unusual hair or suit detail; neither a confirmed animal species nor an extraterrestrial identity follows from the available, anonymous testimony.
