Case description
Vivian Cruz Rodríguez, sixteen, reportedly awoke around 3:30 a.m. on March 3, 1980, to barking dogs and zinc sheets moving in the patio of her Buen Consejo home in Río Piedras. She woke her twelve-year-old brother José Celso. They watched five beings examine the chicken cages. José soon became sleepy again; their parents later reported difficulty getting up, but Vivian continued watching.
Two figures were slender and about five feet tall, in dark brown diverlike suits, with grey exposed faces, pointed ears and large webbed hands. Three shorter, broader figures were described with pear-shaped heads, large eyes, dark textured coverings, crested headgear and ducklike feet. A taller one held a silver sphere and inspected an old car mirror. The beings left toward the road when a car’s sound and lights appeared. A handlike mark on zinc and unusual damp patches were subsequently reported, without an identified independent analysis.
Separately, Luciano Rivera and a companion described seeing a landed disc while resting in their car nearby. Rivera acknowledged having had a few drinks but denied being intoxicated. He described three supports, orange-lit dome windows, an antenna emitting white light and a lower ladder. Five figures allegedly crossed from the property and boarded before the craft rose away.
Jorge Martín’s account appeared in Stendek in December 1980. These are two reported viewpoints, not one scene witnessed identically by everyone. Later summaries differ over chickens versus rabbits and some facial details. The illustration labels its combined house-and-road composition accordingly.
