80km / Riga, Latvia being encounter — September 1980

A September 1980 report from approximately eighty kilometres outside Riga, Latvia, describes a woman observing a spherical object and a helmeted humanlike figure at about 7 p.m. The unusual feature in the Hatch digest is an image interpreted as the observer in infancy together with her mother, appearing beside the figure and object. The entry's bibliography points to Russian accounts translated through Richard Haines's JUSA-CISAAF work. It supplies no witness name, precise village, transcript of communication, or explanation of whether the image appeared on a screen, in space, or as an internal impression. The catalogue's rough object-size notation should not be treated as a surveyed measurement. This report is distinct from another Riga account involving Tatiana Melnik in 1978; their dates and described observations differ. The plate represents the 1980 sphere-and-image report with deliberately indistinct forms. Its landscape, figure, and visual rendering of the remembered image are artistic choices, not a reconstruction of a documented projection mechanism.
