Case description

At about 6:15 p.m. on August 8, 1981, a thirty-eight-year-old Warsaw artist identified in the published investigation as R. K. was camping with friends at Chałupy on Poland's Hel Peninsula. He left the group on the Baltic beach and started back toward the camping area along a sandy path through the coastal vegetation. Some retellings say he had gone to take wildlife photographs. Roughly 150 meters ahead, he noticed what first looked like two boys in dark clothing dash across the path and disappear into bushes on his right. A short distance farther on, after the path bent, the pair appeared again. This time they were standing across or beside the track where he could see them more clearly. R. K. described both figures as slim and about five feet tall. Their clothing was dark green, their faces also appeared green, and the most prominent features were large almond-shaped eyes and narrow slit-like mouths. Around their waists hung dark equipment boxes, with violet and yellow cables, strips and spiral wires. A misty veil obscured part of their bodies below the abdomen, making the lower outline difficult to see. As he approached, R. K. became aware of a silvery object off to the right. He perceived a message telling him not to be afraid. The figures stepped away from the center of the path, and another apparent message directed him to keep walking and not stop. He continued forward. While passing them, he reported the peculiar sensation of moving through the interior of a ball or enclosed field. He did not describe being seized or knowingly entering a craft. After he had passed, R. K. looked back. The two figures were gone. He then saw the object more distinctly: a misty, silvery, oblong disc estimated at sixteen to twenty feet long and about six feet high, hovering only about three feet above the ground. Continuing toward the camp, he encountered an older couple who apparently had noticed nothing unusual. When he rejoined his companions, he believed he was approximately fifteen minutes later than expected. Investigators later reported seven depressions arranged in oval patterns at the place where the object had hovered. The time discrepancy led researchers to ask whether part of the encounter was missing from the witness's memory, but the published account does not contain a recovered memory of boarding or abduction. Bronisław Rzepecki documented the case in the International UFO Reporter in 1987 and later in Flying Saucer Review.

This is the R.K./Chałupy case investigated as8August1981. The programme introduces1981 but its description and later narration say1951. Its landing-trace retelling differs in wording from the original investigation. Existing Atlas video contextNote already identifies1981 versus1951 contradiction. Film introduces1981 at44:55 but description and45:41 narration say1951. Keep original1981 investigation and differing landing-mark wording; no recovered boarding memory established.
