Victoria, Bc being encounter — October 2, 1981

P. M. H. Edwards’s near-contemporary report describes two Victoria observers communicating by CB radio on 2 October 1981. At about 9:30 p.m., sixteen-year-old Grant Breiland noticed a bright white light with a yellowish edge. His nearby relatives and a passing cyclist could not distinguish it. A separate nineteen-year-old, identified as N.B., reported a white and then red light from Mount Tolmie. Through a tripod-mounted camera, Grant described an inverted saucer with a lower dome, moving red light and four surrounding white lights linked by yellow beams. It manoeuvred until about 10 p.m., then went dark. The photograph was still undeveloped when Edwards wrote. On 5 October, Grant said two stiff, expressionless men approached him beside a shopping-mall payphone. They wore very dark blue clothes without ties, had short dark hair, tanned faces, matte eyes and no eyebrows; he thought their fingernails were absent. Asked his name, address and number, he refused to answer. The men walked away in synchrony through rain and allegedly vanished across a muddy field, leaving no footprints. Grant’s apparent delay getting home was uncertain because he had not checked his bus time. Later dreams of interrogation inside a craft were explicitly dreams, not a documented waking abduction. Edwards’s Flying Saucer Review article also relays, through Grant, N.B.’s claimed visit by two pale, white-haired men at a petrol station that day. They bought fuel, puzzled over change and returned a still-full can. N.B. declined Edwards’s interview, so that strand was not directly corroborated. Reported headaches, a small welt and unusual calls likewise lack independently established causation. The aerial observation and later visitors were separated in time; their connection remains an interpretation.
