Onsted, MI being encounter — December 29, 1981

Two boys in the Onsted vicinity, Michigan, reported an encounter on December 29,1981 after playing in a snow fort. A Holly Cogen article in the Brooklyn Exponent, April 27,1982, records Ron Westrum interviewing them with the reporter present. Their names and precise location were withheld. The newspaper clearly describes two boys, rather than establishing a third separate witness. They first noticed an overhead lighted object, later drawn as a disc with colored lights. While sliding down a hill they encountered a small figure which seemed to float over a fence and follow them. At a later fence it reportedly opened a ruby-colored diamond-shaped facial feature, moaned and spun, with lights above and below. One boy also described shapes resembling a gas mask in green haze. Their descriptions differed: one recalled a shadowy, legless form; the other green wrinkled skin, legs and no arms. Fear and later nightmares were reported, but the article did not establish an external cause for a boy’s temporary immobility.
