Carlton, Tasmania being encounter — May 1982

The Carlton account is dated only to May 1982, at approximately 9 p.m., in Tasmania. Keith Basterfield's catalogue attributes it to a single male witness and cites the Tasmanian UFO Investigation Centre file TA 84022. No witness name, exact day or original statement is supplied in the recovered public synopsis. The man reportedly saw a misty, upright egg-shaped object roughly fifteen metres away and about one metre above the ground. He estimated it at 2.5 metres tall and 1.5 metres wide. A figure appeared inside, approximately 1.75 metres tall and normally proportioned. The synopsis gives no dependable facial features, clothing description, control apparatus or movement by the occupant. The witness ran home. On looking back, he saw that the object had gone, so its actual departure was not directly observed. The inherited digest's suggestion of a fast escape therefore adds certainty to a sequence that contains a break in observation. The source does not document a landing, conversation, pursuit, physical contact or abduction. The plate keeps the vertical egg and ordinary humanlike proportions while leaving the interior form indistinct. Its lighting, rural surroundings and witness likeness provide illustrative context rather than recovered scene details.
