João Valério da Silva placed the beginning of his Botucatu experience at about 1:50 a.m. on November 29, 1982. He reported going outside his home, encountering a bright light and seeing a humanlike figure. An apparatus was said to lift him toward the object or room in which the next part of his account took place.
Inside, he described clothed occupants whose eyes and mouths could be seen. A Y-shaped instrument was reportedly pressed against his cheek, after which his memory stopped. He also described a female occupant and marks on his body. He did not recall a continuous sequence through the interval of unconsciousness.
His family reportedly found him at about five in the morning, covered with an oily material. His watch had stopped at 4:30. Da Silva subsequently reported further contacts and photographs, after the initial November episode. Some later summaries substitute December for November, while the contemporary-report trail cited in the chronology retains November 29.
