Case description
After 4:30 p.m. on 12 January 1983, a Pine Township, Indiana, man and his two sons reportedly noticed a glowing inverted-L-shaped object beyond their living-room window. R. A. Busse's CUFOS investigation identifies them by the pseudonyms Ed Eggen,45, John,15, and Donald,10. Outside, they said they found small figures floating two or three feet above the ground. The younger boy approached a second figure while the father tried to reassure both the children and the visitor.
The beings were about three feet tall and wore light-grey, wetsuit-like outfits with dark belts encircled by touching rings. Ed described a large, smooth ivory-coloured head, vein-like markings, no ears, nose indentations and very large carp-like eyes with eyelashes. One figure appeared to carry a glowing six-foot rod with a right-angled top; John interpreted its outline as T-shaped. Its fuzzy light prevented a definite structural outline.
Three figures eventually converged farther along the street, became obscured in a burst of light and reportedly streaked into the clouds. John had already returned indoors and did not witness that final departure. Busse found no physical evidence, and the reported effects on household animals and Ed's later sleep remained witness testimony. The original report clearly places the event at dusk, correcting a later catalogue's 4:30 a.m. entry. No separate spacecraft was described.
