Near Irvington, AL being encounter — February 3, 1983

On the night of 3–4 February 1983, a 28-year-old woman using the pseudonym Pat Norris was driving home from Mobile on Highway 90 when she heard an explosion and felt her car vibrate. After stopping briefly and continuing, she noticed intensely illuminated woods. She initially saw a huge object about half a mile away; the fuller APRO-derived account says it then approached and stopped fairly close. The catalogue's late-evening time and later after-midnight chronology differ. Norris described a predominantly white, tiered, ship- or submarine-like construction, roughly 210 feet wide. Through a long upper window she claimed to see twenty to thirty pale, hairless people in white one-piece suits, moving gracefully. Their eyes appeared ordinary. She also described inset windows, projecting pipes and a lower observation area. Her fear reportedly gave way to happiness. After about five minutes the object moved south, illuminating the woods, and she continued home. Ed O. Distances, scale and interior details remain one witness's estimates. Later dream and examination material should remain separate from the conscious roadside sighting; the submarine comparison does not establish an observed underwater emergence.
