Tingsryd, Swd abduction report — February 3, 1984

In a report dated February 3,1984, Ante Jonsson described driving near Tingsryd, Sweden, at about 1 a.m. He noticed a small figure beside the road and then a very large object hovering over the highway. Its appearance was compared with a saucer or submarine, with a pulsating red light above it. The figure and object disappeared from view. Jonsson said he drove home for his camera and returned to look for the object. It appeared again, this time on the road in front of his Volvo. He braked close to it, and the engine stopped. Several small figures came out, approached the car and tried to pull him away. He struggled, struck one of them and escaped to an empty house near the road. A timber truck then passed the scene. According to the later account, its driver also saw the unusual object and contacted police. Jonsson managed to return to his car but collapsed. Police found him there after the object had gone. He was examined and subsequently questioned about the experience by Swedish military officials. His account later became public. Jonsson went on to report further encounters. In one, a strong compulsion to go outside led him toward a figure and another craft; he remembered being lifted in a beam and later returned near his home. He also described conversations and additional experiences over time. These later reports form his wider contact history, while the roadside figure, landed object and struggle beside the Volvo remain the opening encounter preserved under the February 1984 date.
