Case description
Two boys, twelve and thirteen, reported an encounter near Jonestown, Lebanon County, on January 2, 1985. Stan Gordon's PASU report uses pseudonyms for them. At approximately 6:10 a.m., in cloudy, somewhat foggy conditions, they were checking traps near a ravine. After investigating a howling dog and noticing distant eye reflections, they looked up and reportedly saw a metallic grey oval object moving above the trees.
They estimated its diameter at fifteen feet and altitude at two hundred feet. Lights flashed around its middle, and a low hum accompanied its slow movement. Above a pine grove it paused and released a yellow luminous ball about four feet across. The sphere descended behind the treetops; the main object then moved away. The boys ran home. On returning later, they saw a very tall, broad human silhouette running through the ravine and initially suspected someone interfering with their traps.
PASU investigator Jack Vogel interviewed the boys and their families. A search reportedly found two pine tops sheared off fifteen to eighteen feet above ground, but no burn marks or ground evidence. The later human figure was never observed emerging from the object, so an occupant connection remains speculative. The plate combines the two phases with an explicit sequence label. The original article's apparent Jamestown spelling is inconsistent with its later Jonestown reference.
