Case description
At around 9 p.m. on September 15, 1985, David McMurray, his wife Susan and their two young children were driving near Bagshot Heath, Surrey, when an intensely bright object appeared over the road. They described a flattened, disc-like body with luminous portholes. It rose as they approached, while another object appeared beside the car and paced it.
David stopped near a housing development and got out. Susan remained inside with the doors locked. He watched the object hover over nearby trees and heard a buzzing sound before it climbed rapidly and disappeared. The family returned home and reported what they had seen. Another car had stopped during the incident, although David did not speak with its occupants.
The family reported fatigue and other physical symptoms afterward. David described headaches, marks on his skin, disturbed sleep and unusual experiences over the following weeks. He also became preoccupied with a repeated phrase involving Epsilon. Other local witnesses reported unusual lights that evening, but their observations occurred at different times.
During later hypnosis, David recalled communications from beings he understood as guardians of Earth. A further episode in January 1986 involved a severe headache when he passed the original location and a written message after he returned home. The published account does not describe him recalling an onboard journey; its later contact material follows the roadside sighting and its reported aftereffects.
