Ulyanovsk, Kazan, Russia being encounter — 1986

An anonymous resident identified as Mr N. reportedly opened his door in Ulyanovsk one morning in 1986 and found a very tall man in silver overalls and boots. The visitor, estimated at about seven feet tall, said he was an alien and needed food. Jacques Vallée later included the story in UFO Chronicles of the Soviet Union. Mr N. took him to the kitchen and packed groceries. Saying that he was late for work, he left the house with the visitor, who replied in accented Russian. When the resident boarded a bus, the stranger was no longer in sight. Feeling uneasy during the day, Mr N. returned home early. He reportedly discovered the refrigerator and cupboards emptied, with opened packages, wrappers and scattered grains left in the kitchen. The resident interpreted the missing food as the visitor’s work, but did not witness a return visit or the taking itself. His wife reportedly rejected his explanation, causing a serious domestic dispute. No spacecraft, nonhuman facial feature or independently verified food analysis is described. The story concerns a stranger’s claimed identity and a later unexplained household loss; neither the silver clothing nor the resident’s attribution establishes an extraterrestrial origin.
