Case description
Károly Hargitai's original account in International UFO Reporter 14(2) places this event near Józsa at about 02:30 on Friday, 9 January 1987. A road-maintenance worker on a routine checking tour between Hajdúböszörmény and Debrecen saw lit windows in a field, roughly 250–300 metres from the road. He initially thought he was looking at a farmhouse, then remembered there was no building there and stopped his car. Hargitai distinguishes this witness from a colleague who had seen a trailer-like lighted object in late December.
The worker described a thick, rounded disc about 15 metres across, situated between two straw stacks near high-voltage lines. Eight or ten circular windows emitted warm yellow light, with weaker gray-white streaks between them. Beneath the windows he saw a brighter doorway and a pale, transversely ribbed floor rising into the interior. Crucially, the original article says two entities stood outside and another was in the entrance: three figures in total, rather than the two preserved in the ledger. They wore dark overalls; the outside figures' heads reached only about halfway up the doorway.
Yellowish flashes reportedly appeared above the object every few seconds. Frightened by the figures, the worker drove away. Heavy snow beginning later that morning subsequently covered the site; the article reports no recovered material or confirmed landing trace. Earlier ambulance and trailer observations are contextual, separate incidents. The reconstruction follows the original three-figure account while leaving faces undefined and explicitly acknowledging that artistic perspective compresses the reported viewing distance.
