Perm, Russia being encounter — June 1987

The June 1987 Perm account concerns a figure reported in the garden behind UFO researcher Emil Bachurin’s home. In Jacques Vallée’s interview with Bachurin, the researcher says he was away when a neighbour saw the visitor. The neighbour contacted Bachurin’s wife and asked why Emil had taken up diving. This makes the neighbour, rather than Bachurin, the direct observer of the garden figure. The visitor was described only as wearing a close-fitting diving-style outfit and a helmet. No craft, unusual face or distinctive body proportions were supplied for this particular sighting. Bachurin also reported telephone trouble around that period when calling other researchers, including noise and loss of dial tone. The temporal association does not establish that the figure caused an electrical effect. Bachurin said investigators used biolocation and attempted hypnosis of the neighbour, without obtaining further recollections beyond the frogman-like appearance. Those methods are reported activities, not independent confirmation of an anomalous visitor. Earlier encounters with long-armed figures near Bachurin’s home are separate and should not supply this figure’s anatomy. The plate therefore shows a representative neighbour observing a helmeted, close-fitting-suited figure in the garden, with Bachurin absent and no invented craft.
