Case description
At approximately 20:30 on 20 April 1988, an eighteen-year-old woman given the pseudonym Sharon Cook and her boyfriend were walking across farmland between Staincross and Woolley, near Barnsley. UFO Brigantia's contemporary IUN account says they noticed a man repeatedly getting in and out of a parked car on Warren Lane. He appeared to be operating an aerial attached to a post while continually watching the sky. The antenna was equipment beside the vehicle, not part of his body.
After about fifteen minutes, a triangular object reportedly appeared and moved slowly overhead. They noticed several colored lights and a faint hissing sound, although darkness obscured its details. Around the same time, four or five cars appeared along the lane. The witnesses thought they were chasing the object, using attached spotlights to search the fields. These vehicles disappeared into the distance; the man with the aerial and his car also left.
The report explicitly says that neither the man nor the cars looked unusual. The witnesses believed these activities were connected, but they did not identify the operator, demonstrate radio control or observe extraterrestrial beings. The writer considered the possibility of an unconventional reconnaissance aircraft; that was a proposed explanation, not an established finding. The illustration labels its combined sequence and preserves the ordinary human appearance of the people, without turning an ambiguous equipment-and-aircraft report into an alien encounter.
