Gulf Breeze, FL abduction report — May 1, 1988

Beginning on November 11, 1987, Gulf Breeze building contractor Ed Walters said that a luminous craft repeatedly appeared near his Florida home. He used Polaroid and other cameras to produce a large series of photographs showing bright ringed or windowed objects over suburban streets, water and trees. Walters also reported close approaches, beams of light, small beings and later missing-time or contact experiences. The photographs attracted national attention and helped make Gulf Breeze a center of UFO reporting. Other residents submitted independent sightings, although those reports do not automatically validate Walters's specific images. Supporters commissioned photographic analyses and argued that the images showed a real object rather than simple double exposure. Critics demonstrated models and photographic techniques capable of producing similar results. After Walters moved, a model resembling the photographed object was reportedly found in the former house, a discovery Walters and supporters disputed. The case therefore contains authentic photographs in the sense of known physical images attributed to Walters, but their depicted subject and production method remain contested. The Atlas must not label them documentary proof. Original images may be linked when their edition, photographer and rights are clear. CE3 is retained because the broader account includes reported beings, though the famous photographs mainly depict objects. The portrait summarizes the suburban photographic phase without copying any one frame. It is an illustrative reconstruction.
