Carnaubinha, Brz being encounter — November 1988

On an unspecified Sunday in November 1988, Joana Rodrigues Pereira and her ten-year-old daughter Maria Elisvalda left Carnaubinha, Ceará, carrying vegetables to the Paraipaba market. The CEU investigation published in Revista UFO places their departure around 1 a.m., unlike the imported 6 a.m. entry. They first noticed a reddish light moving low nearby, lost sight of it, and continued toward a meeting place for other market-goers. When Joana set down her basin to rest, they reportedly saw a rounded red object almost overhead, estimated at two by three metres and no more than two metres above ground. It had no visible doors or windows. Strange repetitive sounds seemed to come from ground level. The girl then noticed two short humanlike figures standing together, approximately five or six metres away. Joana estimated their height at 1.5 metres, but their intensely white, shining clothing prevented her from discerning faces, skin or sex. She did not observe them emerge from the object. The pair fled to a nearby house; a return about an hour later found nothing present. Investigators reported a scorched marmeleiro shrub. Later illness and pregnancy loss also entered the account, without recovered medical evidence establishing a UFO cause. The plate preserves the hovering object and two figures but distinguishes glare-obscured features from proven featureless anatomy.
