Case description
Rune Asplund reported an unusual figure outside his home at Döviken, Jämtland, on November 24, 1988, shortly after 9 p.m. AFU Newsletter 34 identifies him and places the observation in his yard, about six metres away. Its approximate height of 1.6 metres differs from a later catalogue's six-foot estimate.
He described a reflective, aluminium-like covering resembling a frogman's suit over the head, face and feet. The figure stood with its legs apart and arms extended, rocking back and forth. After watching for about a minute, Asplund opened the door and said it disappeared. His three dogs reportedly barked. These are witness impressions, without measurements establishing a disappearance mechanism or extraterrestrial origin.
The newsletter mentions a neighbour's separate winter 1987 figure report. Hunge belongs to another, unconfirmed appendix: Asplund said a police car stopped while an unidentified object passed, about ten kilometres from Döviken that evening. Investigators Kurt Persson and Clas Svahn and an April 22, 1989 newspaper reference are named. This distinction explains the inherited Hunge locality without turning the police story into corroboration. No craft is described in Asplund's yard encounter. The existing plate remains an indistinct illustrative figure; its construction and facial details are not authenticated. The recovered source resolves a bibliographical gap while preserving the difference between a documented report and a verified event.
