Case description
The catalogue’s Charovsk entry refers to the June 6, 1989 children’s report near Konantsevo and Boiarskoe in the Kharovsk district of Vologda, Russia. Contemporary TASS coverage, carried by UPI later that month, described a bright point increasing into a shining sphere. The named later accounts involve children roughly eight to twelve years old, although early dispatches and retellings differ over their number and ages.
The reported sphere descended near bushes and a river, then divided vertically into hemispheres. A tall dark form appeared, described as having no separate head and unusually long arms. It walked away or faded as the object disappeared. Further spheres reportedly repeated the sequence. An early version gives four objects with beings emerging from the first three; some later summaries imply an occupant from every sphere.
Researchers disagreed about the story’s reliability and the effect of publicity, repeated interviews and hypnosis on later testimony. These reports do not establish missing time, teleportation or extraordinary anatomy as independently verified events. The plate shows representative children, a divided glowing sphere and an unresolved long-armed form without a separately visible head; distant spheres represent subsequent phases. Its caption identifies a sequence composite, rather than a photograph of several simultaneous landings.
