Kyiv invitation claim — July 4, 1989

At approximately 6 p.m. on July 4, 1989, near Kyiv, Ukraine, two humanlike figures associated with a boat reportedly told women that they came from another planet. The figures led the women toward an object described as a UFO. A child began to cry, and the invitation was declined; the account does not describe anyone boarding or departing with the figures. Jacques Vallée included the episode in UFO Chronicles of the Soviet Union. The brief account preserves the visitors' claimed origin, the approach toward the object and the refusal, without a detailed description of the craft or the remainder of the conversation.
