Case description
Six people travelling along a rural road south of Welch, Oklahoma, reportedly encountered a dark, round object blocking their route during October 1989. The Atlas dates it to October 13; a fuller humanoid catalogue gives only the middle of the month and a late-night time. The exact day is therefore retained as a source claim rather than independently settled chronology.
According to that fuller account, two red lights were visible on the object. The witnesses stopped their vehicle, and two exceptionally tall, thin figures appeared from behind it. Both seemed to glow green. The frightened group then drove away. Later summaries give heights around nine feet, while the Atlas’s compressed source says seven feet. Neither version supplies reliable facial features, clothing details, speech or a close physical interaction.
Hatch cites Richard Seifried and Michael Carter’s Native Encounters; the longer catalogue refers to UFO Newsclipping Service issue 244. Hatch also says unusual UFO activity troubled the witnesses afterward, but the accessible fuller sequence does not document dates or details of those later experiences. Those claims are consequently kept separate from the road encounter itself. No witness names, authenticated photograph or exact video was verified. The plate uses month-only dating and approximate silhouettes rather than presenting the disputed height as a measurement.
