Case description
Gina Jones and her husband reportedly videotaped five orange lights above their Greenville, South Carolina, home on October 31, 1989. Forest Crawford’s contemporary follow-up in the February 1990 MUFON UFO Journal identifies an A Current Affair broadcast on November 17 as the public starting point. Later descriptions arrange the lights in a check-mark formation, but the original report does not establish five physical spherical vehicles.
During filming, part of the house entered the frame and something appeared to move past its bathroom window. Crucially, the couple noticed this only while reviewing the tape afterward. The figure was not an occupant observed through a landed craft’s window, despite the imported catalogue’s question. Later retellings call the room a bedroom and assign the form a small body, large head and long arms; these interpretations exceed what the retrieved contemporary passage establishes.
Crawford described difficulties coordinating access to the tape and the investigation. Neither a broadcast nor an indistinct image identifies an extraterrestrial being. The illustration therefore combines representative members of the couple, a home video camera, five distant orange lights and a faint unresolved form at a house window. It is labelled as a composite of filming and later video review, rather than a simultaneous close encounter.
