Case description
On November 17, 1989, researcher Bob Oechsler and his friend Melanie King were in a Dallas cocktail lounge when he experienced an abrupt, disturbing sensation. The account, later associated with Timothy Good’s Alien Contact, describes roughly thirty seconds of pressure or waves at the back of his head, accompanied by rapidly changing memories and emotions.
Oechsler interpreted the episode as an intrusion into his thoughts and became frightened. King, standing behind him, reportedly felt no comparable sensation but noticed his expression. He then drew her attention to a nearby man whom he believed responsible, although no visible action or instrument established that connection.
The stranger was described as exceptionally clean, about six feet tall, fair-haired, apparently in his late twenties, and reddish or deeply tanned in complexion. King followed as he left. When she obtained a closer look, she reportedly noticed horizontally diamond-shaped pupils. The man continued past without answering her.
Later memory difficulties were attributed to the episode in retellings. The extraordinary interpretation rests on the witnesses’ recollections, particularly Oechsler’s subjective experience and King’s description of the eyes. No craft, projected beam or scanning apparatus was actually described, despite technical labels attached to the imported record.
