Case description
A security guard at the Colonial Palms shopping area in south Miami reported seeing three unusually tall figures during an early-morning shift in December 1989. The imported ledger dates the event 7 December at 04:20, whereas Albert Rosales's catalogue gives 8 December around 04:30. The guard is identified in newspaper-derived retellings as Tony Arias. The disagreement is retained rather than resolved by choosing an unsupported exact date.
The figures were described as exceptionally thin, approximately 7 feet 5 inches tall, bald, with large heads and huge catlike eyes. Arias reportedly used a payphone to summon police. Officers searched the area and found nothing corresponding to his description. Rosales later recalled receiving a south-Dade security guard's emergency call about three tall, thin figures with large catlike eyes; that oral recollection supports the broad reporting sequence without settling the exact time or date.
Jon O'Neill's Miami Herald story was reprinted in CUFORN Bulletin 11(1), January–February 1990, but the original scan has not been recovered here. An online archive's automated summary assigns 10 December, which may be the newspaper publication date and is not accepted as a third confirmed event date. No spacecraft was reported, and the account should not be conflated with the unrelated 2024 Bayside Mall rumours. The figures' clothing, colours and detailed anatomy remain unspecified.
