Jorge Martín's matching Palmarejo account places this encounter in the early hours of 31 August 1990, whereas the imported ledger gives 11 August at about 2 a.m. The article initially calls the motorist Manuel Figueroa and later Miguel Figueroa, an internal naming inconsistency. He was driving Route 101 near Laguna Cartagena after other people indicated that unusual figures had walked that way.
Figueroa reportedly found five thin, grey figures on the road. Martín describes large heads, pointed ears, tiny nostrils, slit-like mouths and almond-shaped eyes emitting bright white light. Their long arms ended in three-fingered hands, and their feet had three toes. When they turned to look at him, he interpreted the stare as a warning and followed at a distance. They eventually turned left and jumped from a small road bridge into a creek connected with the lagoon, disappearing from view.
The account continues with an alleged warning telephone call the next morning, from an unidentified Spanish-speaking man with an American English accent. That claim is not independent evidence of official involvement. Figueroa associated the incident with other local UFO stories, but he did not describe a craft accompanying these five figures. The date and given-name conflicts remain explicit rather than being silently reconciled.
