Case description
Before dawn on 31 August 1990, a businessman identified in accounts as Miguel or Manuel Figueroa encountered excited people and parked cars near Laguna Cartagena in southwestern Puerto Rico. They told him that strange small figures had just passed. Curious and initially skeptical, he drove along the road toward Boquerón and reportedly found five figures walking ahead of his vehicle.
Jorge Martín's version describes thin gray bodies, large heads, pointed ears and almond-shaped eyes emitting white light. The mouths were narrow and lipless, with small nostrils, long arms and three-fingered hands. When the driver approached, the figures turned to look at him. He stopped or followed cautiously as they moved toward a small bridge and disappeared into a creek connected with the lagoon. No craft was reported during this particular encounter.
The witness later alleged an intimidating telephone warning, but the caller's identity and any official role were not established. The source itself alternates between Manuel and Miguel, and versions give approximately 3 or 3:30 a.m. The broader Cabo Rojo UFO narrative must not be merged into the roadside observation as if aircraft, military personnel or a landing had been seen that night. The illustration therefore concentrates on the driver, other observers, five specifically described beings and creek setting.
