Case description
The Saint-Germain, Aube, entry describes multiple witnesses watching a large angular object around 7 p.m. on 5 November 1990. Hatch's abstract gives a delta, triangular or box-like appearance, apparently low altitude, a rapid movement toward the northeast, a turn and several light beams. It adds that a figure appeared to move in a cabin.
The source is Franck Marie's collection of reports from that evening. The individual witness statements were not recovered here, leaving the number and identities of observers, the observation's duration and the basis of the cabin interpretation unresolved. The brief reference to a figure does not support a face, body type, uniform or species. Apparent low altitude is also not a measured distance.
This report belongs beside the major national event of the same evening. GEIPAN identifies the widespread French light display as atmospheric reentry of a Soviet Proton rocket's third stage. Its account explains how distant luminous fragments were perceived by many observers as a large connected structure. That established context must accompany the claim rather than being omitted because the catalogue describes a cabin.
Without the exact Saint-Germain statement, the individual details cannot all be independently matched to that explanation. The plate is explicitly a reconstruction of the reported appearance, with an indistinct cabin shadow and a reentry-context label, not an image of a verified occupied craft.
