(central), MO being encounter — July 21, 1991

Three teenage girls reportedly had an encounter at a home in central Missouri around 2 a.m. on July 21, 1991. Later summaries place it near Springfield. They had been watching television and went outside to use a trampoline, where they noticed a white oval light move toward a large tree at the edge of the yard. One girl reportedly saw a white figure near the trampoline, about four and a half feet tall, with long thin arms, an enlarged pear-shaped head and black almond-shaped eyes. The girls returned inside. After a cat reacted and the television picture went blank, all three allegedly saw the figure at a window, moving its head jerkily. They then sheltered in the basement. The imported description adds translucence and a missing-time claim, which the short later retelling does not independently establish. Duane and Susan Bedell’s report in MUFON UFO Journal 282 is the cited source. No detailed metallic vehicle is described, and the light should not be converted into one. The labelled composite illustration includes the three girls, one pear-headed figure, trampoline and oval light, preserving the reported anatomy while treating scenery and translucence as reconstruction.
