Case description
Marcos Ibáñez Ibarrola, a thirty-one-year-old security guard from Pamplona, said he was driving his Renault 4 toward work near Torres de Elorz at about 10:30 p.m. when he noticed an orange flashing light by a water installation. Iker Jiménez’s book dates the encounter August 29, 1991; the Hatch record and Mikel Navarro’s later interview use August 30.
Ibáñez said the object approached and came onto the vehicle’s bonnet, producing an impact and a force that affected the van. He described something roughly circular, with red-orange lights, a transparent dome, and a short, robust occupant with a large head and conspicuous eyes. After struggling to leave the vehicle, he reached the roadside. Another driver reportedly stopped, and the object rose away.
The account includes scratches and a thick, unpleasant-smelling deposit on the vehicle, said to have disappeared after several days. In Navarro’s much later interview, Ibáñez additionally described damaged clothing, skin irritation, and other subsequent problems. These are retrospective claims; the accessible material does not establish laboratory results or a medical cause connecting them to the reported object.
The roadside event is located between Imárcoain and Torres de Elorz, rather than in central Pamplona. It describes a close confrontation involving a vehicle and an apparent occupant, without a reported journey aboard the object.
