Case description
At 10 p.m. on March 9, 1992, Gry Jannicke Jarlum and a female friend were travelling home near Hamar, Norway, when a deep vibration drew their attention to a dazzling object ahead. It hovered roughly two to three metres above the road, ten to fifteen metres away.
As its light dimmed, Jarlum made out a triangular lower body, three lights and a transparent dome containing two seated figures. The women approached. One occupant had something resembling a steering wheel and apparent long fair hair, although Jarlum thought the latter might have been light. She remembered a cold stare from large dark eyes. Her friend saw moving arms and outlines but fewer occupant details, and described a rounder craft. The object abruptly vanished.
At Jarlum’s home, the same sound grew outside the bedroom until they ducked, thinking something was passing directly over the roof. A call to the railway station placed this episode at about 3:30 a.m.; they were told no train was nearby. Around 5 a.m., Jarlum awoke to violent internal shaking, and her friend reported the same sensation. In the following days they described ear symptoms and nosebleeds; Jarlum also reported painful difficulty focusing and a month of exhaustion.
Jarlum later spoke publicly and wrote Du er jeg about the encounter and the contact experiences she said followed it. She described receiving material through automatic writing, attributed to a source named Betroths. Although the roadside encounter had frightened her, her later account presented these continuing contacts as positive and connected them with changes in her values.
