Case description
At 8:40 p.m. on 17 June 1993, observers at Guidonia reportedly watched a balloon-like object descend toward the military air-traffic-control tower, rise and move away. Hatch’s abstract identifies four observers plus children, but supplies no names, dimensions, colour, duration or detailed flight path. Its figure-related coding is not matched by an anatomical description in the preserved text.
The same date and time appear in a regional Italian catalogue. The Centro Ufologico Nazionale’s Lazio chronology instead calls the sighting a flying humanoid seen by two teachers. Other regional accounts discuss superficially similar airborne figures at Pescara and elsewhere in June 1993, but their detailed appearances and witness groups cannot automatically be transferred to Guidonia. The different summaries need their original reports before they can be reconciled.
Hatch cites the Italian UFO information review and Lumières dans la Nuit number 334. Until that account is checked in full, the object’s identity remains unresolved: describing it as balloon-like is not a proven identification, and calling it humanoid is not enough to establish a biological visitor. The illustration retains a distant ambiguous form near a contextual tower, with anonymous witnesses, rather than adding a separate spaceship or the facial anatomy reported in another town.
