The original CNEGU investigation places the Tronville episode shortly after midnight on January 3, 1994, correcting the January 4 date circulated in the press and imported into the Atlas. A couple, their three daughters and a young adult family friend watched an intensely lit object across a field, first from the house and then from about eighty meters away.
They interpreted it as a roughly five-meter circular vehicle with a lit dome and three grey-clad, large-headed figures. One apparently came outside carrying a flashlight, swept the surroundings and returned. Doorlike slams, two headlights and a whistle accompanied its departure along the track. They did not see it rise into the sky. A neighbor called to corroborate them instead consistently identified a car with one occupant.
Investigators Gilles Munsch and Christine Zwygart found no clear anomalous landing marks. Police inquiries located a driver whose movements, lights and poorly maintained vehicle supported the car explanation, including a whistling belt. The investigators regarded the family as sincere while concluding that ordinary activity had been misinterpreted. Their report also separates later astronomical observations from the original twelve-minute episode. The family’s interpretation and the contrary investigation both belong in the record.

VISITORS TO EARTH: Ten Incredible Humanoid Encounters
The original CNEGU investigation dates the episode shortly after midnight on January 3, correcting the January 4 press date used by the film. Investigators identified a car explanation supported by a located driver, headlights, door sounds and a whistling belt; a neighbor saw a car with one occupant. No anomalous landing marks were established. The film omits these findings and instead speculates about an extraterrestrial or reverse-engineered craft. The family did not see an aerial departure.
