Courlay, FR being encounter — June 19, 1996

A woman identified as twenty-nine-year-old Bernadette reportedly encountered an unusual girl at Courlay,Deux-Sèvres,France,on June19,1996. A later compilation citing Lumières dans la Nuit341places her on an errand around8:45a.m.; Hatch gives8:50,mentions a bridge and cites issue341. These small timing and descriptive differences remain unresolved because the original investigation was not recovered. The fuller summary describes long black hair,a small pale face with a mature expression,a plastic-like blouse,a white jacket and jeans. Bernadette said the figure abruptly disappeared. Hatch additionally mentions stiff hair,almond-shaped eyes and a repeat on June26. The recovered fuller narrative does not independently establish all those additions or explain how the disappearance occurred. Neither version describes a spacecraft. The description remains compatible with an appearance perceived as human; it does not justify replacing the girl with a stereotyped grey alien. No corroborating photograph, physical trace or identified second observer was established here. The plate shows Bernadette and a human-looking girl before the reported disappearance, using restrained facial features and ordinary clothing. The bridge and surroundings are illustrative, and neither a portal nor an invented vehicle has been added. The later repeat remains a catalogue claim rather than a separately reconstructed scene.
