Case description

The June 1, 1997 issue of UFO Roundup describes a sequence beginning late on May 18 near Bloomington, Indiana. Local UFO researcher John Tosti and two coworkers reportedly watched an object behind their plant. Tosti subsequently drove to Snoddy Road; the detailed roadside phase was placed at 12:15 a.m. on May 19, rather than the earlier time retained in some catalogues. He said several lights appeared and two objects approached after he flashed his headlights. His car's electrical system reportedly failed as a metallic disc hovered overhead. He described two successively smaller domes, an upper white strobe, blue light beneath the object and square windows glowing amber. With the craft tilted, he believed he could see silhouettes with unusually large heads. Waving his arms produced no apparent response. Two smaller illuminated spheres, one red and one blue, allegedly emerged and moved in figure-eight patterns before the main object departed. The contemporary newsletter attributed its account to Lynn Taylor's report. It also discussed earlier local sightings, which are separate episodes. Its landing headline is stronger than the detailed overhead sequence. The three-person count belongs to the initial observation; the later account centres on Tosti and does not establish three independent views of the occupants.
