Case description
A January 1998 news item describes retired farmer Jako Vrančić reportedly meeting four small visitors at a pasture north of Šibenik, Croatia. The UFO Roundup newsletter of January 18 credits the Croatian newspaper Večernji list through CNI News. The surviving English version does not establish an exact encounter day; the Atlas’s noon time is not independently fixed by that report.
Vrančić was said to be tending cattle when an object shaped like a household flatiron landed silently. Four occupants, described as having the size and build of human children, emerged. He reportedly offered part of his lunch, including ham and dried figs, but they declined. He said they spoke imperfect Croatian and that he felt no fear. After a short visit, the figures re-entered the object and it departed.
The item quotes favourable comments about the farmer’s character but does not supply independently inspected photographs, measurements or a detailed investigation file. It also leaves faces, skin, clothing and the vehicle’s dimensions undescribed. These limits prevent identifying a particular alien type or treating a flatiron comparison as an engineering drawing. The plate keeps four indistinct small figures, the farmer, cattle and a simply suggested iron-like object, with unspecified details treated as illustrative.
