The Atlanta-area creature story of July 7–8,1953 was an admitted hoax. Edward Watters, Tom Wilson and Arnold “Buddy” Payne claimed that their vehicle encountered a red saucer on a highway near Atlanta, with three small figures beside it. Two supposedly returned to the object while the third was struck and taken away as physical evidence.
The surviving Project Blue Book case summary labels the incident a hoax, records that the body was identified as a shaved monkey and states that the sources admitted fabricating the story. Contemporary reporting and later local histories identify Watters as the principal organizer. Accounts vary over whether the night should be dated July 7 or the early hours of July 8; the archived summary uses July 7.
The existence of an official file documents an investigation and its ordinary resolution, not an alien recovery. No extraterrestrial craft or beings were established. The illustration therefore labels the roadside scene prominently as a confessed hoax and a visualization of the original claim. It includes the three men, vehicle, distant red saucer and small alleged figures without depicting animal injury or treating a staged body as genuine biological evidence.

Georgia Bureau of Investigation: Monkey From Mars / Voodoo-Cursed Murder Hatchet
Museum footage of the preserved “Monkey from Mars” hoax exhibit at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. The 1953 story was fabricated using a monkey’s body; this is historical exhibit coverage, not alien remains. The film also visits an unrelated hatchet exhibit.
