Case description
The original four-frame Blue Book file associated with this entry does not describe one unified landing encounter on 26 November 1954. Its main record concerns a Brazilian Air Force major's account of high-altitude observations at Gravataí airbase near Porto Alegre in late 1954. The record card gives December 1954, labels the information second-hand and considers it insufficient for evaluation. The imported transcription substantially garbles its contents.
The major reportedly arranged separated groups of airmen to record their observations, including positions around the airfield. They described an object hovering at an estimated 30,000–45,000 feet, suddenly crossing a large arc of sky and hovering again. A second similar object joined it before both departed. The claimed speed depended on an assumed altitude; it was not a directly measured performance. A white halo reportedly enlarged when the object moved.
The file also discusses other Brazilian reports, but its final frame is plainly a separate catalogue extract headed 4 November 1954, Pardo River near Pontal. That text concerns José Alves fishing at night, a small washbowl-shaped object and THREE short, dark-skinned men in white clothing and skullcaps collecting vegetation and water. It does not place those figures at Porto Alegre.
The two accounts should not be combined into occupants emerging from an airbase object. The illustration follows the Porto Alegre observation and marks the composite-file problem. No occupants are supplied for the military sighting, and neither declassification nor the major's confidence establishes an extraterrestrial explanation.
