Case description

On or during March 15, 1955, at or near Tokyo Japan, Japan, the source reports the following sequence: AT ONCE LOCATION OF INCIDENT: TOKYO, JAPAN DATE OF OBSERVATION: 2 FEBRUARY 1955 THE FORM OF CLOSURE OF THE OBJECT WAS NOT OBSERVED. THIS OBJECT WAS OBSERVED FOR A PERIOD OF 4 MINUTES. The targets which moved and then became stationary are believed to have resulted from a possible temperature inversion that would justify false echoes on ground targets. The fact that 15 targets originally appeared on the PPI scope, but only 2 were observed on the AI radar, tends to substantiate the spurious response theory. The object is described as a "Flying Saucer" in the text below the image.
